Rewrite of "The Disease." Love hurts, and no one on Voyager knows that better than Harry Kim. He left behind his fiancee back on Earth and he's been down on his luck since, having unsuccessfully fallen for a hologram, an ex-Borg, and the wrong Delaney sister. When he falls madly in love Derran Tal in "The Disease," it's really not a surprise that something went wrong. Not only must Harry answer to an angry Mama Bear Janeway when she finds out Harry didn't file his "I wanna make love with an alien" paperwork, but he also gets a raging case of space herpes. Poor Harry doesn't ever catch a break. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan take the elements of "The Disease" they did like and transform the rest into their own episode rewrites. Does Harry still glow when they're finished with him? Listen and find out. Hosts Editor Producer Executive Producers Associate Producers Production Manager Send us your feedback! "Time and Again" rewrite. The Voyager episode "Time and Again" does not stand out by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it is forgettable — and you *can* forget about it because in the end, the events that occur in the story are reset by mucking about with time! In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan give "Time and Again" some love and think of ways they could improve the story and make it more noteworthy. Char and Tristan will be at Star Trek Las Vegas next week! Not only will they record an episode of TTJ in person for the first time, but they will also be contestants on the Super BridgeMates panel happening at 12:30 p.m. on August 5 on the Roddenberry stage. Please join us if you will be at the convention! Hosts Editor Producer Executive Producers Associate Producers Production Manager Send us your feedback! Support the Network! |

Rewriting DS9's "Fascination" into Voyager. Tristan and Char have been on a creative streak lately. Two episodes ago, they conducted a session in the writer's room and improvised an episode live during the recording. Then, they explored what Voyager might look like in the JJ-verse. For this episode, they are still feeling the creative vibes, so Char and Tristan are back in the writer's room for a rewrite of Deep Space Nine's "Fascination." In this Season Three episode, a Bajoran holiday ritual mixes with telepathy and the crew starts forming unlikely infatuations with one another. Since Voyager never got its version of this "Naked Now"/"Naked Time"-esque storytelling, Char and Tristan take the premise from "Fascination" and rework it into Voyager. Who pursues whom and do they make out? You will have to listen to the episode and find out. Voyager Rewrite of TNG's "Captain's Holiday." What do you do when your captain refuses to take a much-needed vacation? As a crew member, you conspire with your peers and *make* it happen. That's what the crew of the Enterprise-D did to Captain Picard, and in this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan do the same to Captain Janeway. With no prior preparation, Char and Tristan craft a rewrite of TNG's "Captain's Holiday" and give it a Voyager spin. Listen on and find out what sort of shenanigans ensue when Janeway meets her Vash. "Infinite Regress" Rewrite. One of Char and Tristan's favorite things to do on To The Journey is rewrite an episode of Voyager that could have used some extra love. On the block this go around is "Infinite Regress", an episode that is dynamic but lacks the long-term impact of a synthetic pathogenic virus. Grab your Kadis-kot board, listen in and find out how Char and Tristan would give "Infinite Regress" a new personality (or multiple) in their rewrites of this episode from Voyager's fifth season. "Nemesis" Rewrite. Chakotay-centric episodes are typically not highly-rated among the Star Trek fanbase. Most of them leave a lot to be desired, but "Nemesis" might be an exception. The episode explores what war does to the mind, and may have greater significance in our post-9/11 culture than it did when it first aired in 1997. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan take another look at what they thought was a mediocre episode. However, they realized they were both wrong but amped it up in their rewrites anyway. Listen on and find out how they would improve one of Season Four's most underrated and overlooked episodes. "Ashes to Ashes" Rewrite. Hey, do you remember that ensign who died three years ago? No? It's okay, neither do we. But guess what, she's back! And she looks nothing like her former self! What the heck is going on? The above is the essential premise for "Ashes to Ashes," a Voyager Season Six story that had several interesting ideas behind it, but fell short of its potential. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan rewrite "Ashes to Ashes" and reveal how they would take this kernel of an idea and make it pop into something with more drama, emotion, and overall intrigue.

"Extreme Risk" Rewrite. When Char and Tristan choose an episode that deserves a rewrite, it's usually an episode with untapped potential. This time, things are different. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan rewrite "Extreme Risk" with one major change: Janeway takes B'Elanna's place as the character who's numbed from depression. Since Janeway was dealing with depression in "Night," Voyager's Season Five opener, it seemed natural fit to continue the storyline. "Extreme Risk" was an excellent episode as produced, so how much really changes when a different character has to deal with the same set of circumstances? Listen on and find out.
