"Collective" Rewrite. Children on Star Trek has always been a mixed bag. The Borg kids, whom we first meet in Voyager's sixth season episode "Collective," are no different. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan attempt an assimilation of "Collective" in hopes of bringing it closer to perfection...or a rewrite, at least. They debate the usefulness of the Borg kids on Voyager, rave about how the episode excels visually, and discuss what changes they think would have made "Collective" an episode that even the Borg Queen would approve of.

"Cold Fire" rewrite. The time has come again when Char and Tristan pick an episode of Voyager and give it a little TLC. This time, it's Season Two's "Cold Fire," where Voyager encounters the Caretaker's mate, Susperia, and a group of Ocampans who have embraced and honed their telekinetic abilities. Let us not forget the bonus of Kes accidentally boiling Tuvok. Listen on and find out what Char and Tristan would have kept in, removed, and how they would have transformed "Cold Fire" into a less contrived story and a more compelling hour of television.

Remember Rewrite. Episode quality varies greatly in Voyager's body of work, ranging from exceptional to downright pitiful. Most episodes fall somewhere in between these extremes, and they are the best candidates for a TTJ-style facelift. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan share their ideas for how they would bring more life to Voyager's "Remember," a Season-Three story where the romance of Romeo and Juliet collides with the genocide that occurred during World War II. Unforgettable Rewrite. Chakotay-centric episodes rarely make fans' lists of favorites. Whether it's the writing, story, or the performance, they just don't stand out. For Char and Tristan, the ill-designated "Unforgettable" from Season Four tends to be just the opposite of what the title implies. Displaced Rewrite. Not all Voyager episodes are winners. Some are downright ugly and others are forgettably mediocre. Season Three's "Displaced" fits the latter, and in this episode of To The Journey Charlynn and Tristan give this story a rewrite. Both agree that the episode needed better action sequences and more of them, but differ on who should save the ship. Did Char appreciate the rarely seen "Action Chakotay!" sequences and want more of them? Did Tristan find yet another way to bring the monkey from "Resolutions" into the mix? Resolutions Rewrite. Thousands of Voyager fans have written Janeway/Chakotay fanfic to rework “Resolutions” to their liking. And in this episode of To The Journey, Tristan and Char join in. Tristan goes for the Harlequin romance angle, while Char doesn’t stop at just one episode and instead writes a three-part epic. The Fight Rewrite. Sometimes after watching an episode, don't you just shake your head and think "I could've done better than that!"? So it is with “The Fight.” In this episode of To The Journey we all try our hands at either throwing out the whole thing and starting over, or keeping the least painful parts and turning it into hopefully something better. Char has Chakotay feel the love, Tristan has the man face his defective gene head-on, and Lorrie just throws in an homage to "Rocky." What would you have done with "The Fight"? |
